This outreach ministry started in 1999 by church members that met weekly to offer comfort and encouragement to other church members who had lost their jobs. After a short period of time, the story of this ministry began to be publicized to the community through local news media and by word-of-mouth.
The founders, seeing how this was evolving, decided that other people in the community might benefit from this and so Back on the Path (BOP) was born as an outreach mission.
When job seekers from throughout the area began to attend meetings, the format changed to a "caring-and-sharing forum where hikers discussed their individual job searches with each other. Common problems, challenges, and ways to overcome their situation were introduced.
Back on the Path charges no fees or dues.
The meetings are informal and the group meets in a comfortable church reception hall. At least once a month, speakers are invited to make presentations on subjects that would have positive impact on your job search.
We meet every Tuesday, 7:30 pm at Cave Spring United Methodist Church, 4505 Hazel Drive, Roanoke, VA 24018. Orientation begins at 7:00 PM for first time attendees. Join us . . . see map to church on Contact Us.
We are here to guide, instruct, inform and help each other!
